Roofing materials we install
Choose the roof that fits your home.
A new roof is one of the biggest projects you’ll do on your home. The material sets how it looks, how long it lasts and what it costs, so we’ll walk you through the options for your house and budget — not just the one that’s easiest to install.
Architectural shingles
Thicker, dimensional asphalt shingles with more visual depth and better wind resistance than basic 3-tab shingles — great value for most homes.
Standing seam metal
Sleek, strong and energy-efficient, with concealed fasteners. Works on modern and traditional homes alike.
Cedar shake
A natural, timeless look with good insulating value and long life when it’s installed correctly.
Natural slate
One of the most durable roofing materials there is, with real elegance and fire resistance.
Complete tear-off
We remove the old roofing down to the deck so damaged decking is found and replaced, not covered up.
Storm restoration
Full replacements after hail or wind damage, with documentation and claim help from Supreme Adjusting.

Roof replacement guide
What to know before
you replace your roof
Most homeowners only replace a roof once or twice. Knowing when it’s really time, and what should be in an estimate, makes it much easier to compare contractors and avoid surprises halfway through the job.
Signs it’s time to replace
- Age. Asphalt shingle roofs often need replacing somewhere around 20 years, depending on the shingle and ventilation.
- Curling, cracked or missing shingles. When it’s happening across the roof, not in one spot, repairs stop making sense.
- Granules in the gutters. Shingles shed their granules as they wear out.
- Light or stains in the attic. Daylight through the boards, damp insulation or dark stains on the decking.
- Repeated leaks. Fixing one leak after another usually means the roof as a whole is failing.
- Hail or wind damage. Storm damage can shorten a roof’s life even when it doesn’t leak right away.
What goes into your estimate
- Roof size, pitch and height. Roofs are measured in squares (100 sq ft); steep and tall roofs take more labor and safety setup.
- Layers to tear off. More old layers mean more labor and disposal.
- Decking. Any rotted or damaged deck boards found during tear-off.
- Material choice. Architectural shingles, metal, cedar and slate are very different price points.
- The full system. Underlayment, ice and water barrier at the eaves, ventilation, flashing and drip edge.
Roof replacement questions, answered.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most residential roof replacements are finished within a few days, depending on the size of the roof, the material and the weather.
What warranty comes with a new roof?
There are usually two parts: the manufacturer’s warranty on the materials and the contractor’s warranty on the installation. Coverage depends on the product you choose, and we’ll explain your options in writing before you sign.
Do you offer financing?
Describe the item or answer the question so that site visitors who are interested get more information. You can emphasize this text with bullets, italics or bold, and add links.Ask about payment and financing options when you request your estimate, and we’ll go over what’s available for your project.
Architectural shingles or metal — which should I choose?
Architectural shingles cost less up front and suit almost any home. Standing seam metal costs more but lasts longer and is more energy-efficient. We’ll price both if you’re deciding.
Will my insurance pay for a new roof?
If your roof was damaged by hail or wind, your homeowners policy may cover part or all of the replacement. We document the damage, and our sister company, Supreme Adjusting, can help you with the claim.
How do I compare roofing quotes?
Make sure each quote covers the same material, underlayment, ice and water barrier, tear-off, decking allowance, ventilation and warranty. And confirm the contractor is licensed — ours is Illinois roofing license #104.018326.
